Tour Blog and Testimonials

“Barb and Dee were absolutely WONDERFUL hosts. The casita was quaint and cozy with plenty of minute details that just make a stay more home-like. We ended up taking a Death Valley tour with Dee, and it was phenomenal. You can find good deals, sure. But such kindness and hospitality is just not so easy to come by. My husband and I came in for the weekend to celebrate his birthday with Death Valley. Barb and Dee were communicative with me ahead of time, which was perfect since I was surprising my husband. I definitely recommend the casita, and I wholeheartedly recommend at least one full-day tour in Death Valley. Dee is a walking encyclopedia. :)”

“This is a review of both the house that we stayed at and a 4WD tour of Death Valley National Park.

House: We stayed in a house in Beatty, NV, although I believe they have places to stay in Pahrump, NV as well. The house was charming, had a large enclosed airy area for hanging out, drinking, eating, playing music, etc. and was quiet and comfortable, with a futon as well as a bed and a fully supplied kitchen. It also had a number of books to read, and all safety/emergency equipment were on the premises. The price was extremely reasonable, and the house was very comfortable, and a great value for the money. Highly recommended. Beatty is a good, inexpensive base of operations for exploring not only Death Valley but the surrounding area, which is fascinating and beautiful. We only scratched the surface during our 4-day stay there.

4WD tour: Dee showed up promptly at the designated time, and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. At once, it felt like a friend showing us around. We went on a tour of Titus Canyon, including Leadville. This one-way road is a dirt road, and is navigable by 2WD vehicles, but we enjoyed getting to sit back and not have to drive, and also appreciated the history of the area and fascinating facts and conversation. We walked down Titus Canyon for about ten minutes as well to fully appreciate the towering walls and their multi-colored hues. Gorgeous. Following Titus Canyon, Dee took us up to Chloride City following a more adventurous route leading from Daylight Pass Road, going over some gorgeous if challenging terrain, which he and his 4WD vehicle handled without breaking a sweat. We explored the mines and remaining structure at Chloride City, and stopped to have a look near the top, checking out views of the surrounding area that rivals Dante’s Peak, but without all the tourists. We could also see back toward Route 95, Beatty, and Rhyolite. We drove down a smoother dirt road toward Route 95 on the way back. Absolutely fun day. I have an SUV but would still recommend the tour.

Both the tour and the house are highly recommended, and are easily five stars.”

“Dee and Barbara were very friendly and responsive. We had a great time staying there and joining their private tour. We learned so much about Death Valley but we were limited by time. We hope to come back again! The house is clean and tidy. It seemed pretty safe around the neighborhood. They have a nice dog that protects the house too, so definitely no safety issues. The bathroom is clean and spacious. The beds are comfy. Parking was right outside the house. This is a good deal because they offer discounts to their private tour to Death Valley.”
